Cruising for a Cure Car Show to Benefit Local Children Battling Cancer in Southside

SOUTHSIDE — Community members are invited to come together for a day of cars, food, and fundraising as “Cruising for a Cure” rolls into Southside on Saturday, May 23, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Southside Stadium parking lot.

The event, located at 2142 Highway 77 in Southside, will raise funds for two local children currently battling cancer, with 100 percent of proceeds going directly to support the patients and their families.

This year’s beneficiaries are 14-year-old Aiden Beck, who has been diagnosed with brain cancer, and 7-year-old Finley Edwards, who is battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, commonly known as A.L.L. leukemia.

Organizers say the event will feature a variety of attractions for car enthusiasts and families alike, including show cars, top pick awards, raffles, a 50/50 drawing, and a “Drawing for Dollars” giveaway. Vehicle owners wishing to participate in the show may enter for a $10 show car entry fee.

Attendees will also be able to enjoy food from several local vendors and food trucks, including Funkee Franks, KT’s Mobile Munchies, It’s Donut Time, Ellie B’s Lemonade, The Chill Spot, and JC Lunchbox.

Event organizers encourage the public to come out, enjoy the festivities, and support a meaningful cause aimed at helping local families during difficult times.

Cruising for a Cure is a rain-or-shine event and is made possible with support from sponsors including Whorton Bend Baptist Church, Griffin’s Service Towing, Interstate Batteries, and the City of Southside.

For those looking to support a worthy cause while enjoying classic cars and community fellowship, organizers say there will be something for everyone.
