
CENTRE— The Cherokee County Public Library is inviting the community to take part in its next “Brain Bites” Lunch and Learn event on Thursday, May 21, featuring a presentation on Traditional Southern Folk Medicine by noted Southern herbalist Darryl Patton.
The program will begin at 12 p.m. at the Cherokee County Public Library, located at 310 Mary Street in Centre.
As part of the library’s Brain Bites Lunch and Learn Series, attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy an engaging and educational midday program exploring the history and practices of traditional Southern folk medicine. Patton, known as “The Southern Herbalist,” will discuss remedies, traditions, and herbal practices that have been passed down through generations across the South. Guests will also have the opportunity to ask questions during the presentation.
The library will provide drinks, chips, snacks, and dessert for those attending, creating a welcoming atmosphere for learning and community fellowship.
Library officials encourage residents of all ages with an interest in history, herbal traditions, wellness, or Southern culture to attend the free event.
