District Attorney Summer Summerford Speaks to Collinsville Fourth Graders, Honors Students with Power of 1 Award

COLLINSVILLE— District Attorney Summer Summerford recently visited fourth grade students at Collinsville High School to speak about the importance of personal responsibility and the lasting effects decisions can have on individuals and those around them.

During her visit, Summerford encouraged students to think carefully about the choices they make and emphasized how positive decision-making can influence not only their own future, but also the lives of family members, friends, and their community.

In addition to speaking with students, Summerford presented the “Power of 1 Award” to several fourth graders recognized for making a positive difference throughout the school year.

The award honors students who consistently demonstrate kindness, helpfulness, and positivity toward others.

Students recognized with the Power of 1 Award included:

• Josiah Toodle
• Alan Serrano

Summerford praised the students for their character and positive example, highlighting the importance of encouraging kindness and leadership among young people.

School officials and community leaders continue to stress the value of positive role models and early conversations about responsibility, character, and decision-making as students grow and develop.
