Lady Warriors finish 11th in Class 4A state track and field meet

GULF SHORES – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors finished 11th out of 42 teams in the Class 4A state track and field meet in Gulf Shores over the weekend.

Hamilton won the 4A girls meet with 52.5 total points. Altamont came in second with 52 points and Montgomery Academy was third with 49 points.

In the individual events, the Lady Warriors’ Shamiya McElrath took third in the 100 meter with a time of 12.95 seconds. She was also seventh in the 200 meter (26.80).

Taniya Fife finished fourth in the 300 meter hurdles (47.65). She was also seventh in the 100 meter hurdles (16.69).

Deannia Starr finished fifth in the discus (109’7”). She also came in sixth in the shot put (35’6”).

Ashton Pruett was seventh in both the discus (105’1”) and shot put (35’1”).

The Lady Warrior 4×100 meter relay team came in sixth with a time of 52.80 seconds.

The Warrior boys tied for 37th with North Jackson, Cleburne County, and Hokes Bluff with three total points.

Anniston won the boys meet after accumulating 82 total points. Catholic of Montgomery took second with 48 points, followed by Hamilton in third with 46 points.

The Warriors’ Bryce Gaudreau won the 100 meter and 200 meter ambulatory events with times of 15 seconds and 30.05 seconds respectively. Caisen Hamilton finished first in the ambulatory shot put (17’11 1/2”).
