SPRING GARDEN – Spring Garden scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take an 11-10 softball win over Wellborn on Tuesday.
Kylie Bates led the Lady Panthers (10-19) at the plate by going 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, two walks, three runs and a RBI. Hayden Parris posted four hits, including a double, with a run and two RBIs. Maya Jennings went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs, and two RBIs. Ellie Miller was 3-for-5 with a RBI. Ava Boatner finished with a double and a run.
Lleyton Carroll walked three times and scored a run. Paisley Woodall walked twice. Kendall Birchfield walked, scored a run, and drove in one.
Birchfield worked all eight innings in the circle. She surrendered five earned runs on 11 hits with nine walks and seven strikeouts.
Spring Garden now prepares for the Class 1A, Area 12 tournament, hosted by Jacksonville Christian at Henry Farm on Monday, May 4. The Lady Panthers open tournament play against Gaylesville at 3:30 p.m.
