Mr. JC McGatha, Jr., age 77 of Piedmont, passed away on April 7, 2026, at Riverview Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Nances Creek Cemetery.

He is survived by his “girls”, Kim Watson, Dawn White (Brian), and Gabriel Peardon (Jamey); grandchildren, Codey Watson, Dylan Watson, Shelby Webster (Travis), Levi Peardon, and Katelyn Justice (Renee); great grandchildren, Grayson Sylvester, Colin Watson, Kash Watson, and Jace Watson; sisters, Elizabeth Shell, Nellie Clay, Teresa Lang, and Janice McGatha; and several nieces and nephews.

JC was preceded in death by his parents, JC, Sr. and Eva Lee McGatha; his wife of 60 years, Wanda Warmack McGatha; sisters, Shirley Gene Lockridge, Gladys McGatha, and Sue Ellen Nolan; brother, Kenneth McGatha; and granddaughter, Hannah Watson.
