ANNISTON – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors went 5-0 in the Wellborn Softball Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Lady Warriors defeated Woodland in the championship game on Saturday by the final of 8-0.
Cherokee County (20-10) opened tournament play on Friday against Woodland and won 6-0. They also beat Ohatchee on Friday 7-1. Saturday’s wins included a 12-0 blanking of Wellborn and an 8-1 victory over Piedmont.
In Saturday’s championship game against Woodland, Emma Hill earned the win in the circle. She tossed six innings and allowed four hits and registered 10 strikeouts.
Emma Eberhart led the Lady Warriors at the plate by going 3-for-3 with two runs and a RBI. Brooklynn Bruce went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Sofie Dawson delivered two hits and two RBIs. Izzy Patterson also posted a pair of hits with a walk and a run.
Anna Morris drove in a pair of runs and scored another. Hill also scored a run.
In the Lady Warriors’ first game against Woodland on Friday, Bruce went 3-for-3 with a run. Patterson was 2-for-3 with two runs. Eberhart was also 2-for-3 with a run and a RBI. Sydni Frost went 1-for-3 with four RBIs. Kaylee Lewis was 1-for-3 with two runs and a RBI. Morris finished 1-for-2.
Against Ohatchee on Friday, Hill went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Lewis was 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs.
Eberhart and Frost both went 1-for-3 with a RBI. Bruce and Morris were both 1-for-3 with a run. Patterson finished 1-for-3. Kar’leigh Bowman walked.
Against Wellborn on Saturday, Eberhart and Dawson were both 2-for-2 with a walk and three runs. Eberhart also had a RBI. Lewis went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.
Patterson was 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBIs. Morris went 1-for-1 with a walk, a run, and two RBIs. Bruce was 1-for-3 with a run. Myleigh Bobbitt went 1-for-1 with a RBI. Aubrie Wright finished 1-for-1, and Bowman drove in a run.
Against Piedmont on Saturday, Eberhart went 2-for-3 with two runs and a RBI. Bruce was 1-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. Bowman went 1-for-1 with a walk and a run. Patterson and Dawson were both 1-for-2. Patterson also walked. Joleigh Davis also had a hit. Lewis and Morris both walked and scored a run. Hill earned a walk.
Cherokee County travels to Plainview on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
