Boathouse and Pontoon Boat Destroyed in Whorton Bend Fire

WHORTON BEND — A late-night structure fire Thursday resulted in the total loss of a boathouse and pontoon boat, according to the Whorton Bend Fire Department.
Crews were dispatched to the scene at approximately 8:43 p.m., where they found the boathouse and vessel fully engulfed in flames upon arrival. Firefighters acted quickly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further.
Officials reported that while the boathouse and pontoon boat were destroyed, the rapid response helped limit additional damage to surrounding property.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Rainbow City Fire Department, Southside Fire Department, AMED ambulance service, the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, and Etowah County 9-1-1.
No further details, including the cause of the fire or any injuries, were immediately available.
