500 Block of Broad Street in Gadsden to Close for Pedestrian Crossing Project

GADSDEN — A section of Broad Street in downtown Gadsden will be temporarily closed beginning Tuesday, April 14, as construction gets underway on a new pedestrian crossing.

The closure will impact the 500 block of Broad Street, between South 5th Street and South 6th Street. City officials say the project is part of ongoing efforts to improve accessibility and safety in the downtown area.

Despite the closure, local businesses in the area will remain open, and sidewalks will continue to be accessible, except in the immediate construction zone.

The project is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete, with work scheduled to wrap up ahead of May’s First Friday event.

City officials expressed enthusiasm about the improvement and thanked residents and visitors for their patience during construction.
