Cherokee County Board of Education to Meet April 9

CENTRE — The Cherokee County Board of Education will hold its next regular meeting on Thursday, April 9, at the Cherokee County Schools Central Office, located at 200 Armory Road in Centre.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and will open with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a welcome and an opportunity for public comments.
Board members will establish a quorum, review proper procedures for meeting notification, and consider adoption of the meeting agenda before moving into regular business.
Among the items scheduled for consideration are approval of the March 9, 2026 meeting minutes, a proposal from Bailey Education Group, LLC for Cedar Bluff School, and a revised energy savings budget for Cherokee County High School. The board is also expected to accept bids, consider adoption of social studies textbooks, and review revisions to the policy manual.
Additional agenda items include declaring certain items as surplus property, approving travel requests, personnel actions, and professional development opportunities. The board will also review current job postings within the school system.
The meeting will conclude with the superintendent’s update, other business as needed, and adjournment.
