Collinsville City Council Meeting

Collinsville City Council Meeting

During the Collinsville City Council meeting on Monday evening, March 16, the session opened with a prayer led by Donna Jones, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. A roll call confirmed all members of the council were present.

Librarian department head Jennifer Wilkins expressed appreciation for the cooperation and professionalism demonstrated by local police chiefs in addressing security concerns at the library. She noted that their spirit of cooperation reflects the leadership of the council and offered her thanks.

The mayor and city clerk were authorized to open a line of credit with Liberty Bank to manage funds associated with a grant for the ballpark project. The council also discussed participation in the Times-Journal Progress Edition Magazine, which would cost $920 for a full-page feature. The board chose to table the decision for further consideration.

Additionally, the council adopted a resolution requesting assistance from the Alabama Department of Transportation and the DeKalb County Road Department. The resolution seeks support for Historic Collinsville signage, as well as the design and development of the interstate and interchange area, including the potential addition of an electric vehicle charging station. This initiative is part of the Alabama 250 Campaign for DeKalb County.

The next Collinsville City Council meeting is scheduled for April 6 at 5 p.m.
