The appointment was announced by National League of Cities President Kevin Kramer, a council member from Louisville, Kentucky.

“I am honored to represent the City of Southside on the National League of Cities Community and Economic Development Committee,” McGriff said. “This is a great opportunity to make sure communities like ours have a voice in conversations happening in Washington. I look forward to working with leaders from across the country and bringing back ideas and opportunities that can help Southside continue to grow and succeed.”

As a member of the committee, McGriff will help shape NLC’s federal policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities, towns and villages before Congress, the President’s administration, and at the local level in Southside.

“The National League of Cities’ federal advocacy committees are the voice of America’s 19,000 cities, towns and villages to leaders in Washington,” Kramer said. “I am thrilled to work with Council member Jennifer McGriff and look forward to supporting their goals and ideas as she serves on the Community and Economic Development Committee this year, helping to strengthen the partnership between local and federal leaders.”

The 2026 Community and Economic Development Committee will be led by Chair Rick Carmona, Mayor of Terrell, Texas, along with Vice Chairs Cindy Silva, council member from Walnut Creek, California, and Justin Green, council member from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
