Leesburg Town Council Meeting (Mon 03/02/2026)

LEESBURG, Ala.- The Leesburg Town Council approved several infrastructure and public safety items during its regular meeting on Monday evening.

Council members approved $13,093 for new firefighter turnout gear. They also approved $8,900 to demolish two deteriorating buildings, including a former beauty shop and an old gas building.

The council approved $6,143.80 for an additional day of ditching work to address drainage issues in problem areas around town.

Members also voted to send Leesburg Police Officer Tanner Young to ACE Interdiction Training in Brookhaven, Georgia.

Officials reported the town’s sewer project is nearing completion, with work expected to finish by mid- to late April.

Following adjournment, state senate candidate Amy Minton addressed the council and attendees. Minton is running for District 10, which includes parts of Cherokee, DeKalb, and Etowah counties.

She told those gathered that running a city is one of the most difficult jobs in government and emphasized her support for limited government, private property rights, small businesses, and veterans.

The election is scheduled for May 19.
