Little River Canyon National Preserve Conducting Controlled Burns;
Public Access Restricted Through Tuesday

Little River Canyon National Preserve officials have announced that controlled burns are scheduled for Monday, March 2, and Tuesday, March 3, within the NE Complex Burn Units inside the preserve.
The prescribed burns will take place in the area outlined in red on the official burn map. All impacted areas, including access roads, will be closed to the public until later this week to ensure the safety of firefighters and visitors.
Roads 02, 03, and 04 within the preserve will be closed during the burn operations. Additionally, the two river fords located in the affected burn units will not be accessible. Barricades will be in place throughout the area, and officials stress that no one should attempt to go around posted closures.

Preserve officials emphasize that the temporary restrictions are necessary to protect both fire personnel and the public while the controlled burns are conducted.
Residents who live near or north of the burn units — especially those without access to social media — are encouraged to stay informed about the scheduled burns and related closures taking place today and tomorrow.
