Two Critically Injured in ATV Accident North of Jacksonville

CALHOUN COUNTY — Multiple emergency agencies responded Tuesday afternoon to a serious ATV accident north of Jacksonville that left two individuals critically injured.
The call was received by the Piedmont Rescue and EMS at approximately 2:23 p.m. The crash occurred in the area of New Liberty Road and Foster West Road, where three individuals reportedly went off an overpass and into a creek.
Upon arrival, first responders began evaluating and treating two patients who were determined to be in critical condition. A third individual involved in the incident had left the scene, according to reports.
The Jacksonville Fire Department, Knighten’s Crossroads Fire Department, and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office responded in mutual aid.
Due to the severity of the injuries, Survival Flight was initially placed on standby and later dispatched to the scene. Two separate landing zones were established. Piedmont Rescue transported one patient by ambulance to a landing zone at Asberry Baptist Church, where Survival Flight 23 airlifted the patient to a regional hospital. Jacksonville crews transported the second patient to a landing zone at Germania Springs, where Survival Flight 16 transported that individual to a regional medical facility.
The current conditions of the injured individuals have not been released.
