WEIS Obtains Documents Related to Ballot Challenge in Alabama Senate District 10 Race
Amid heightened interest in the Alabama Senate District 10 race, WEIS News has obtained documents related to the recent removal of candidate Jesse Battles from the Republican primary ballot.
Senate District 10 is currently represented by Sen. Andrew Jones and includes Cherokee County, Etowah County, and the southwestern portion of DeKalb County. The district is represented in light pink on the map.

Battles was removed from the Republican primary ballot following a ballot challenge hearing held Sunday afternoon by the Alabama Republican Party Steering Committee. Prior to the ruling, Battles had been running against incumbent Sen. Andrew Jones and challenger Amy Dozier Minton.
Both Jones and Minton issued statements following the committee’s decision. Those statements can be viewed in the related stories linked at the end of this article.
WEIS was provided a copy of the form used to request the ballot challenge; personal contact information contained in the document has been redacted.
WEIS also obtained a copy of the relevant portion of the Alabama Republican Party rules relevant during Sunday’s hearing.
