Amy Dozier Minton Issues Statement
After GOP Steering Committee Removes Jesse Battles From District 10 Senate Primary Ballot

The Alabama Republican Party Steering Committee voted to remove Jesse Battles from the ballot in the Alabama Senate District 10 Republican primary following a formal ballot challenge filed with the party.
Battles had been slated to run against incumbent Sen. Andrew Jones and fellow Republican candidate Amy Dozier Minton in the upcoming primary before the committee’s decision.
WEIS Radio News reached out for reaction, and Amy Dozier Minton provided a statement addressing the development and the direction of the District 10 race.
My official statement is: ‘I have learned that one of my opponents has been removed from the Republican ballot’. I was not involved in the hearing challenge so you will need to contact the Alabama Republican Party for all questions. The Alabama Republican Party evaluates every candidate each year according to the following Bylaws. I will not comment negatively about either of these candidates but I will continue to share my platform as follows.
- As the wife of a US Marine I will always stand for our military on the battlefield and when they return home!
- I will support private property rights, farmers, first responders, teachers and promote workforce development especially through Gadsden State Community College.
- I am ALWAYS for lower taxes and less government regulation.
- I will work closely with our Mayors, County Commissioners, and city leaders.
- I will always stand on my faith, supporting our churches, faith based mental health programs and protecting our children

WEIS Radio News previously reported a statement from incumbent Sen. Andrew Jones regarding the ballot challenge and the party’s decision.
“CAMPAIGN UPDATE:
I just learned that one of my two opponents has been removed from the Republican ballot by the Alabama GOP. Apparently someone associated with one opponent’s campaign filed a candidacy challenge on the other opponent due to some past work for the Democrats.
If you know me, you know I’ve certainly never been shy about a hard-fought campaign, and I had been looking forward to a vigorous debate on the issues with BOTH candidates. In the end though, as a result of this removal, only two of us will appear on your May 19 Republican ballot.
TO ANY VOTER WHO IS NOW CONSIDERING WHOM TO SUPPORT:
Our campaign welcomes you with open arms. I know you might not have agreed with me on every decision I’ve made, but I’m confident that our campaign has the vision and experience to build a stronger Etowah, Cherokee, and DeKalb. Let’s not go back to the failed politics of the past! I invite YOU to be a part of ANDREW & YOU! Come join us!”
The removal of Battles leaves the Republican primary contest for Senate District 10 between Jones and Minton. The Republican primary will determine which candidate advances to represent the party in the general election.
