Marshall County Student Charged after Social Media Post Referencing School Shooting

Brindlee Mountain-A Brindlee Mountain High School student is facing charges after authorities say a social media post prompted concern about school safety.

According to Marshall County Sheriff Phil Sims, the school resource officer at Brindlee Mountain High School was alerted on Feb. 10, 2026, to a social media post showing a student identified as 18-year-old Jaxon Minyard holding what appeared to be a firearm. The post included the caption “School shooter final boss.”

The student was removed from class by the school resource officer and school administrators while the situation was investigated. A sheriff’s investigator was dispatched to the school and interviewed the student and his mother.

Following the investigation, authorities determined Minyard would be charged with making a terrorist threat in the second degree, citing the threatening nature of the image, the caption, and what officials described as its intent to intimidate other students.

Minyard was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked without incident.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office said it takes threats to school safety seriously and will investigate and pursue charges in cases involving direct, implied, or joking threats toward students.

Officials also urged parents to talk with their children about responsible social media use and the potential long-term consequences of online posts.
