Man Arrested Following Firearm Incident in Tuckers Chapel Community
Tuckers Chapel-A Collinsville man was arrested Monday night following an incident involving the discharge of a firearm in the Tuckers Chapel community, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said 45-year-old Dustin Highfield was taken into custody on charges of driving under the influence and resisting arrest. Deputies were dispatched to County Road 361 near Welcome Hill Cemetery after receiving a report of gunshots in the area.

According to officials, the caller reported that Highfield had been discharging a firearm. The caller approached Highfield to speak with him, which led to an argument. The caller then returned to their vehicle and left the scene, with Highfield reportedly following in his own vehicle. During that time, Highfield allegedly fired two shots into the air.
When deputies arrived and conducted their investigation, they determined Highfield was operating his vehicle while under the influence. Authorities stated that Highfield was uncooperative and told deputies he would not submit to being handcuffed before being taken into custody.
Highfield was arrested on DUI and resisting arrest charges. Officials noted that additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
