Cherokee County Coroner’s Office Recognized Leadership and Staff
During Medicolegal Death Investigation Professionals Week
Cherokee Couty-The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office recognized the dedication and service of its leadership and staff as part of Medicolegal Death Investigation Professionals Week, which was observed last week.
During the observance, the office highlighted the work of Coroner Paul McDonald, citing his leadership and ongoing efforts to modernize operations and enhance service to the community. McDonald made it a priority to bring the Coroner’s Office into the 21st century by expanding his professional knowledge and education and by continually seeking ways to improve procedures and outcomes.

A key initiative underway at the time was McDonald’s work toward accreditation of the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office, a process designed to ensure the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and care in medicolegal death investigations.
In addition to administrative leadership, McDonald was recognized for his role as a “last responder,” providing support and guidance to families experiencing the loss of a loved one. Officials noted that his commitment to the families of Cherokee County and his devotion to his responsibilities reflected the compassionate leadership he brought to the office.
As Medicolegal Death Investigation Professionals Week concluded, the Coroner’s Office also expressed appreciation for the deputy coroners and interns who served Cherokee County. These individuals often balanced full-time careers while remaining on call throughout the night and on standby during the day.

Officials emphasized that the deputies’ and interns’ extensive training and dedication ensured they were prepared to respond at any time with professionalism and compassion, helping the office fulfill its mission to the community.
The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office extended its gratitude to all staff members for their unwavering commitment to public service and for the critical role they played in supporting families during difficult times.
