Elbert Parker, Jr., age 76, of the Sand Rock community, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026, at his residence.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday January 30, 2026, from 5:00pm till 7:00pm, Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, with Rev. Terry Burke officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Parker will lie in state from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 31, 2026, at the church.
Mr. Parker is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Kate Parker; son, Greg Parker (Rita); daughter, Kimberly House (Patrick); brothers, Kenneth Parker (Patricia), Ronald Parker (Diann), and Terry Parker (Debra); sisters, Rita Garrett, Kathy Wadsworth (Garry), and Angie Bennett (Donnie); sister-in-law, Betty Parker; grandchildren, Taylor Hunt (Ethan), Cara Parker, Samantha Gurley (Camden), Bryson Parker, Bronson House, Brooklyn House, and Baron House; great-grandchildren, Corrie Blake Hunt and Caleb Hunt; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other loved ones.
Pallbearers will be Patrick House, Bronson House, Baron House, Bryson Parker, Ben Parker, and Jesse Parker.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donny Parker and Benny Parker.
Elbert was a native of Cherokee County and the son of the late Elbert Parker, Sr. and Nellie Faye Parker. He was a faithful member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Elbert proudly served his country as an E-5 Sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division, Screaming Eagles, of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1971.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Elbert’s pride in his family was unmistakable. He enjoyed hunting and crappie fishing and cherished time spent with those he loved. Known as a trusted friend and mentor to many, his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
