Anniston Police Department Announces Promotions of Three Officers

Anniston-The Anniston Police Department has announced the promotion of three members of its leadership team, effective January 23, 2026, recognizing their years of service, professional accomplishments, and continued dedication to public safety in the City of Anniston.
Corporal Chris Trammell has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Sergeant Trammell has served with the Anniston Police Department for 13 years and holds a bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management from Jacksonville State University. Throughout his career, he has worked in the Patrol Division as a patrol officer and in the Investigative Division as both a case investigator and a warrant investigator. In addition to his investigative and patrol experience, Sergeant Trammell has served in several roles on the department’s Special Response Team and currently holds the position of Assistant Commander for the team.
Sergeant Thomas Freckman has been promoted to Lieutenant after 12 years of service with the department. Lieutenant Freckman’s career includes assignments in the Patrol Division, where he served as both a patrol officer and a shift sergeant, as well as work in the Investigative Division as a case investigator. He also dedicated four years to the Special Response Team as a negotiator and was later appointed negotiator team leader, a role that reflected his leadership and specialized training.
Lieutenant Brett Lloyd has been promoted to Captain, marking 17 years of service with the Anniston Police Department. Captain Lloyd holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Jacksonville State University and a Master of Public Administration from Columbia Southern University. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy. His extensive career includes assignments in the Patrol Division as an officer, sergeant, and lieutenant; in the Investigative Division as a case investigator and sergeant; and in the Administrative Division as both a sergeant and lieutenant. Captain Lloyd also served six years on the Special Response Team as a negotiator.
In announcing the promotions, Chief William C. Parris congratulated the officers on their achievements and thanked them for their continued commitment to the citizens of Anniston.
