Cedar Bluff sweeps Gaston in area basketball action

CEDAR BLUFF – The Cedar Bluff Tigers ended a three-game losing streak with a 68-37 area boys basketball win over visiting Gaston on Thursday.

Shon Gleen led the Tigers (13-10) with a game-high 27 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Zach Jones added 12 points.

Jonas Brown and Keondre Wynn both netted nine points. Wynn also had a pair of treys.

Zyrese Wynn finished with six points.

Silas Holland topped the Bulldogs with 15 points, including four 3-pointers. Michael Taylor tallied 13 points.

Cedar Bluff jumped out on an 11-0 run and led 25-4 at the end of the first quarter. The Tigers built a 40-20 edge at halftime and led 63-32 at the end of the third quarter.

In girls action, Kylie Vadon tossed in 25 points, dished out six assists, had six steals, and grabbed five rebounds in the Class 2A, No. 6 Lady Tigers73-31 victory over Gaston.

Ciana Smith collected 18 points, eight boards, and three steals for Cedar Bluff (18-5). Janaya Higgins contributed 13 points, 13 boards, three assists, and a pair of blocks.

Vana Martin managed nine points, five rebounds, three steals, and an assist. Scarlett Brown finished with six points.

Brooklyn Merriman led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 points. Mylie Harper finished with six points.

Cedar Bluff cruised to a 31-8 advantage at the end of the first quarter and led 41-18 at halftime. The Lady Tigers built a 64-27 edge after three quarters.

Cedar Bluff is scheduled to host Spring Garden on Monday.
