Current forecast guidance suggests that areas near and north of Interstate 20 could see between a quarter inch and three-quarters of an inch of freezing rain. Meteorologists caution that these amounts could increase as confidence in the forecast grows, and additional data becomes available.

The National Weather Service notes that winter weather watches, warnings, and advisories are typically not issued until within 48 hours of a potential event. Residents are advised not to interpret the absence of official alerts as an indication that impacts will not occur, and instead to remain attentive as the forecast continues to develop.

Ice accumulation on roads could significantly impact travel, particularly during overnight and early morning hours when temperatures are coldest. Officials encourage residents to begin considering preparedness steps now, including limiting unnecessary travel and ensuring vehicles and homes are ready for winter conditions.
