DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office to Temporarily Close Offices Due to Illness Concerns

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office announced that its offices will be closed for the week of January 5 through January 9 as a precautionary measure due to illness affecting staff.

Officials said the decision was made to help protect the health and safety of employees and the broader community while allowing time to address the situation.

Emergency services will not be affected during the temporary closure. Residents who need immediate assistance or wish to report an emergency are advised to call 911.

The Sheriff’s Office noted that pistol permit applications can still be completed online during the closure by visiting the department’s website at dekalbcountysheriff.org.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office thanked the public for its continued support and understanding, and said normal office operations are expected to resume following the temporary closure period.
