Mrs. Anita Jane Stanley

Funeral services will be held at 1pm December, 13th, 2025, at Alabama City Church of God, for Anita Jane Stanley, 83, of Reece City, who died Tuesday, December 9th, 2025. Bishop Mike Cleckler, Bishop Bobby Morgan, and Bishop Shane Swafford will officiate. Burial will follow at Bethany Baptist Church. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory in Gadsden is in charge of arrangements.
Jane was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Alabama City Church of God, and she retired from the Cherokee County Board of Education in the CNP department. She also was a devoted pastors wife and stood beside her husband J.L. Stanley for the 22 years they pastured Centre Church of God/ Grace Pointe Church of God. She organized many ministries, including nursery ministries, ladies ministries, children’s church ministries and girls clubs. She was well known for a meek and mild spirit. Above all, she loved and cherished her family and had a way of making them feel special. She was a Proverbs 31 woman and was the jewel of her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Emmett Walters; mother, Clara Bishop Walters; sister, Judith Farris Pitts; brothers, Robert Allen Walters, and Vernon Lee Walters.
She is survived by her husband, J.L. Stanley of 66 years. Daughters, Rhonda (Steve) Snodgrass; Robin (Jay) Denton; son, Russell (Amy) Stanley; grandchildren, Miranda (Jared) Gieger, Melissa (Chris) Jones, Abbey (Jacob) Neely, Sydney (Logan) Shelton, Anna Claire (Houston) Hill, Samantha Stanley; great-grandchildren, Addison Geiger, Ryder Neely, Reece Jones, Rayne Neely, Stetson Hill.
Pallbearers are Jared Greer, Chris Jones, Jacob Neely, Logan Shelton, Houston Hill, and Dean Amos.
Honorary pallbearers are David Holliday, Don Reynolds, and Wesley Battles.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jane’s home health nurses, Christy and Jennifer, and to all the wonderful caregivers from Center Well Home Health, Jamie, Molly, Amanda, Sarah, Andrew, and Miss Clea. Also, a special thank you to Jane’s hospice nurse Lindy Gilbert and to Jacob. They all became family to us and will always have a special place in our hearts.
