Ms. Lorene DeLana Hunter, 89, went home to be with her Lord on December 7, 2025. Born to the late Luther Eugene “Cowboy” and Clara Luna Tucker Lawson, DeLana lived a life defined by service, faith, and a deep love for children and community.
For 25 years, DeLana was a beloved cornerstone at Cedar Bluff School, where she served as the Cafeteria Manager. To DeLana, this was more than a job; it was a calling. She knew the students by name and found true joy in their presence, feeding them with both warm meals and a warm heart.
Her dedication to youth extended to her spiritual home, Enon Grove Baptist Church. A faithful member for 47 years, she taught Sunday School and was a passionate supporter of the youth group, investing her time and wisdom into the lives of the church’s future leaders.
DeLana joins her brother, Eugene Junior Lawson (Dorthy Jean), in Heaven. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will be remembered by the countless students and church members she touched throughout her life.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Crane (Eddie Joe) and Katrina Mintz: her sister Carolyn Ann Money and brother-in-law, Carl Money. Grandchildren: Karanda (Chaz) Thomas of Lyerly, Georgia, Lawson (Jessie) Mize of Rome, Georgia, Levi (Kayla) Mintz, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Jake (Madison) Mintz of Springville, Alabama. Great-Grandchildren: Jude Chestnut, Jax Nabors, Emmett Mintz, and Clyde Thomas. Nieces and Nephews: DeAnne (Jeff) Burt, Debbie (Mike) Jennings, Pam (Terry) Burt, Terry (Jill) Lawson, Dale Lawson. Chosen Family: Nicole (Jon) Newton, Alecia Ross and Lena Newton, Bonny (Tommy Miller), Kaylee Miller, Randy Mize, and Bobby Mintz.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 2:00pm at Enon Grove Baptist Church in Cedar Bluff, the family will receive friends from 12:00pm till the time of service at the church, burial will follow at Weiss Lake Memorial Gardens.
