Spring Garden boys fall to Weaver in basketball season opener

SPRING GARDEN – Brady Ruark rang for 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, but the Spring Garden Panthers lost their season-opening basketball game against Weaver 62-37 on Friday.

Eli Bates and Brody Bostick both had seven points for the Panthers (0-1).

DJ Marbury led the Bearcats with 18 points. Phoxton Benjamin tossed in 17 points. Junior Allen, J.C. Reeves, and Camden Holland each had six points.

Weaver jumped out to a 23-10 advantage at the end of the first quarter and led 39-16 at halftime. The Bearcats held a 58-24 lead at the end of three quarters.

Spring Garden is at Gaylesville on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
