A jury was seated on Monday and deliberated approximately four hours on Wednesday before returning a verdict finding Parker guilty of one count of rape in the first degree and one count of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.
Parker was arrested in June 2022 when authorities received a report that Parker had sexually abused two children under the age of 12 at a residence located on County Highway 42 in Blount County.
District Attorney Pamela L. Casey presented evidence that “Parker often visited the family of these children. When at the home, Parker would often smoke marijuana and methamphetamine with the parents. On at least three of these occasions, Parker spent the night at the residence, which is how he gained access to the children. Parker attacked one victim as she lay sleeping on an air mattress. The young girl reported the attack to her grandfather, who had custody of her at the time.”
“These cases are always difficult. It is hard and often heartbreaking to listen to the evidence in these cases. This can be even more difficult when jurors are having to consider the testimony of children who do not have the life experience and/or vocabulary to describe the vile and disgusting things that happen to them.” “This jury had a tough job this week, and I appreciate their work and time, “ said District Attorney Casey.
The case was investigated by Sergeant Ed Hull with the Blount County Sheriff’s Department. “Investigator Hull is one of the most dedicated law enforcement officers that I have ever worked with during my almost two decades as a prosecutor. He shows up for the children of Blount County 24/7 and works endlessly to protect our children,” said Casey.
Casey also commended the work of the Blount County Department of Human Resources for their swift response to the allegations in 2022.
Parker faces a sentence of life in prison or a term not less than 99 years under Alabama’s Habitual Felony Offender. Parker has two prior felony convictions for burglary and theft.
After the verdict was announced, Parker was remanded to the custody of the Blount County Sheriff and will remain in custody until sentencing. Sentencing is set for January 20, 2026.
