Ashville boys hold off Sand Rock 75-69

SAND ROCK — Ty Traffanstedt led all scorers with 27 points, including three 3-pointers, but the Sand Rock Wildcats fell short to Ashville 75-69 in high school basketball action on Friday night.

Traffanstedt also collected seven rebounds, six assists, and six steals for the Wildcats (1-1). Jonas Browder added 11 points, five rebounds, three assists, and a steal. Elijah Hood had 11 points, including a pair of treys, with 10 rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Will Cleere contributed nine points, six rebounds, two steals and a block. Thomas Snead came away with five points, three rebounds, and a steal. Wyatt Miller finished with four points, 10 rebounds, and a block.

JB Potter led five Ashville players in double figures with 13 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Parker Jackson and Jamon Williams both netted 12 points. Jackson had two 3-pointers. Dalton Rice-Thompson and Parker Smith both netted 11 points. Dylan Palmer finished with eight points.

Ashville held a 34-22 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 45-33 advantage at halftime. Sand Rock cut its deficit to five at 57-52 at the end of the third quarter. The Bulldogs outscored the Wildcats 18-17 in the fourth for the final.
