Mrs. Julia Ferguson, age 88 of Centre, AL passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Debbie Ferguson. They had lovingly cared for Mrs. Ferguson for many years.
Mrs. Ferguson was born in Centre, AL on May 27, 1937, daughter of the late Obie Wheeler and the late Idela Pledger Wheeler. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Ferguson; sisters, Louella Tate and Lois Tibbs; daughter, Debra Jolly; grandson, Josh Ferguson and granddaughter, Allie Barnett.
Survivors include her brother, Charles Wheeler (Sarah); 3 children, Steve (Denise) Ferguson, Jerry (Debbie) Ferguson, Vance (Dawnn) Ferguson; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Julia worked as a waitress at many restaurants in the Rome area. In retirement, she took loving care of her Father and Mother until their deaths. She was a sweet soul who never complained and was always concerned about her family. Later, she cared for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren on weekends and as needed.
She loved the outdoors and working in her yard planting flowers. The deer and turkey became so familiar with her putting food out for them that some would eat out of her hand. She was a generous person who was always there for her family, friends and strangers who were in need. She never turned anyone away that asked for help.
She was of the Baptist faith and knew Christ as her personal Savior.
In accordance with her wishes, a funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Perry Funeral Home on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 12:00pm with Bro. Dale Byers officiating. Burial will follow at Old Nazareth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until the time of service at the funeral home.
