Cherokee County Public Library Announces November Events and Holiday Closures

Centre-The Cherokee County Public Library has released its schedule of programs and holiday closures for the upcoming weeks. The library will be closed Tuesday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day, and again on Thursday and Friday, November 27 and 28, for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Several recurring programs continue through the month:

  • Read Around Book Club meets the first Monday of each month at 11 a.m.

  • Maker’s Nook, a yarning and crafting group, gathers every Tuesday at 3 p.m.

  • Sew Joyful Quilters meet Thursdays from 10 a.m. until noon.

  • Art in the Afternoon, led by Freddy Reynolds, meets Thursdays at 2 p.m.

  • Paint with Kim is held the first and third Friday of each month from 1–4 p.m.

  • Brain Bites, a lunch-and-learn series, meets the third Thursday at 12:30 p.m. Drinks and dessert are provided—participants should bring their own lunch.

Upcoming Brain Bites programs include “Deck the Halls” with Library Director Dana Carroll on November 20, and “No Humbug! Christmas Carol’s True Story” with Dolores Hydock on December 11.

The library will also offer Senior Tech Connect — Computer Basics for older adults during November. Advance registration is required, and participants should call the library for details and scheduling.

Storytime for preschoolers continues Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. Space is limited, so reservations are required.
