Public Comment Invited on Alabama’s Draft Outdoor Recreation Plan

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is pleased to announce the release of the Draft 2026 Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP)—a statewide guide for outdoor recreation development, access, and conservation.

We are now seeking public comment on the draft plan and invite all Alabamians to share their thoughts, ideas, and concerns.

What Is SCORP?

The SCORP is a strategic plan that helps guide how outdoor recreation resources are managed and improved across the state. It also helps Alabama remain eligible for federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant assistance.

Comment Period: October 27, 2025, through November 26, 2025

How to Review & Submit Comments:

Your input helps ensure that outdoor spaces—from state parks and local trails to rivers and recreational facilities—meet the evolving needs of Alabama’s residents and visitors.
