Arab City Schools Mourns Death of Student Following ATV Accident
Arab, Ala. — The Arab City School System has released a statement expressing deep sorrow after the death of an Arab Elementary School student who was injured in an ATV accident over the weekend.
According to Marshall County Coroner Cody Nugent, the single-vehicle accident occurred Sunday evening on private property along Rescue Road in Union Grove. Nugent said the 8-year-old boy, identified by school officials as Cal Guess, was thrown from the ATV and sustained serious injuries.
He was initially transported by ambulance to Huntsville Hospital before being airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. The coroner said the child died on Monday from his injuries.
Arab City Schools said they are “deeply saddened by the loss” and are offering support to students and staff as they grieve the death of the young student.
The incident remains under investigation by the Marshall County Coroner’s Office and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.
