The Centre City Council on Tuesday afternoon approved the purchase of new furnishings for the new City Hall now under construction. The Council did not give a detail list of the purchases but the cost for the new furniture is $183,916.19. This includes shipping, assembly, and placing the furnishings in the building. Building Inspector Raymond Matthews told the Council the new City Hall could be ready to move in as early as late December and no later than January.
In other action, the Council approved $4,000 for the Fire and Police Department to spend on candy for the Trunk or Treat event and the Christmas Parade.
The Shop Centre Campaign with WEIS Radio was approved in the amount of $1800 for November and December.
The current Mayor and City Council have one more Council meeting in this term which will be on October 28th at 5 PM in the Council Chambers.
The incoming Mayor and Council will be sworn in on November 3rd.
