Juvenile Dies Following Emergency Response in Polk County
CEDARTOWN, Ga. — The Polk County Police Department is investigating the death of a juvenile who was found unresponsive at a residence on Cartersville Highway on Wednesday afternoon.
According to a statement from Chief Kiki Evans, officers with the department’s Uniformed Patrol Division were dispatched around 12:16 p.m. on October 8, 2025, after receiving a report of a juvenile who was not breathing.
When first responders arrived, they found the child unresponsive while bystanders were performing life-saving measures. Emergency medical personnel soon took over and transported the juvenile to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The Criminal Investigations Division of the Polk County Police Department has assumed control of the case. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and no additional details are being released at this time. Police emphasized that there is no danger to the community.
The department expressed gratitude to multiple agencies assisting in the investigation, including the Rockmart Police Department, Rockmart Fire Department, Cedartown Police Department, Advent Health EMS, the Polk County Coroner’s Office, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
