Two-Vehicle Accident Temporarily Blocks Highway 68 in Sand Rock
Sand Rock – An early morning accident Tuesday briefly blocked traffic on Alabama Highway 68 at the top of Sand Rock Mountain.
The crash occurred near Chambers Lawn Service and involved a white service van and another vehicle. The van overturned off the roadway, while the second vehicle was able to pull into the parking lot of a nearby church.
Both drivers told first responders they were uninjured. Traffic in both directions was temporarily halted while emergency crews cleared the scene but reopened after a short delay.
Units from the Leesburg Police Department, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Leesburg and Sand Rock Fire Departments, the Cherokee County Rescue Squad, and Atrium Floyd EMS responded. Some units were later canceled after officials confirmed there were no entrapments or serious injuries.
