Fatal Accident Claims Life of Gadsden Woman on U.S. 411

ETOWAH COUNTY — A 21-year-old Gadsden woman was killed Thursday evening in a crash on U.S. Highway 411, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

The accident occurred at mile marker 223, north of Turkey Town, when a Lexus SUV driven by Elizabeth Barnes collided with the rear of a Freightliner log truck.

Barnes, a student at Auburn University, was transported to a Gadsden hospital, where she later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Troopers said the accident remains under investigation.
