Howells Crossroads-Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver reports that an altercation between two juveniles resulted in a shooting on County Road 30 in the Howell’s Crossroads community. The shooting happened just before 1 AM on Friday, September 26th.

Deputies responded quickly to the scene and immediately took the shooter into custody. Spring Creek Fire and EMS also arrived on scene and rendered medical aid to the victim, who was transported to an area hospital. The victim remains in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

Following the investigation, the shooter was charged with Attempted Murder and is currently being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center. Although the suspect is being charged as an adult, Alabama law prohibits the Sheriff’s Office from releasing his name or booking photograph.

Sheriff Shaver commended the rapid response of deputies and first responders, noting that their actions ensured the situation was quickly brought under control and the victim received prompt medical care.
