Collinsville claims homecoming football win over Asbury

COLLINSVILLE – Mason McAteer hit on 8-of-10 of pass attempts for 168 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 53 yards on five carries with a score in leading the Collinsville Panthers to a 43-19 homecoming football win over Asbury on Friday.

The Panthers (3-1, 2-1 Class 3A, Region 8) improved to 8-0 in their football history against the Rams (0-5, 0-3). They built a 22-0 first quarter lead and held a 43-7 advantage at halftime.

Travis Ledford, Kyler Beene, and Sylas Adams each ran for a touchdown. Ledford gained 66 yards on seven carries. Beene and Adams both had a couple of carries for 56 and 29 yards respectively. Beene also caught a 2-point conversion pass.

Gavin Lang led the Panther receivers with five catches for 113 yards and a touchdown. Adams added a 42-yard touchdown catch and threw for a 2-point conversion. Bentley Jones also threw for a 19-yard touchdown.

Collinsville travels to Sand Rock on Friday.
