SPRING GARDEN – Ben Baker accumulated 171 yards on 11 carries with a touchdown and 2-point conversion. Brady Ruark ran for 137 yards on 13 totes with four scores, a 2-point conversion, threw for a touchdown, and had two interceptions on defense to help lead the Spring Garden Panthers past Valley Head 58-23 in Class 1A, Region 8 football action on Friday.

It was the fifth straight meeting Spring Garden (3-2, 2-1) has won in the series with the Tigers (3-2, 2-1).

Zane Edwards added 64 yards on six carries with two scores, caught a 17-yard touchdown pass, and had six tackles on defense for the Panthers. Hayes Guthrie had four carries for 29 yards and a score.

Colton Driskell led the Panther defense with eight tackles. Cayden Thompson tallied seven stops.

Spring Garden jumped out to a 22-7 first quarter lead and built a 50-16 edge at halftime.

The Panthers host Cedar Bluff on Friday.
