OHATCHEE – The Class 3A, No. 2 Piedmont Bulldogs churned out 317 yards and six touchdowns on the ground in a 61-6 rout at Ohatchee in Region 6 football action on Friday night.
The Bulldogs (3-0, 2-0) built a 34-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and held a 47-6 advantage at halftime.
Jaxson Howard and Nick Mixson both scored a pair of touchdowns for Piedmont. Howard had 63 yards on both of his carries with scores of 42 and 21 yards, while Mixson managed 62 yards on four totes with scores of 13 and 40 yards. Howard’s 21-yard touchdown was set up on a Bryant Waters fumble recovery in the first quarter.
Quarterback Cole Austin added 36 yards on six carries with a score. He also threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Rollie Pinto early in the first quarter to put Piedmont up 14-0.
Aliandre Wright scored the Bulldogs’ final touchdown late in the third quarter on a 1-yard run. Wright finished with 33 yards on four carries.
Grady Hunter had Ohatchee’s lone touchdown on a 1-yard run to open the second quarter.
Piedmont has an open date next Friday before hosting Westbrook Christian on Sept. 19.
