Coffee World Opens in Cherokee Plaza
CENTRE – A new spot for coffee lovers has officially opened its doors in Centre. Coffee World, located in the Cherokee Plaza, celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. in partnership with the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce.
Owner Claudia Perez addressed those in attendance before cutting the ribbon, introducing her family and employees, including her parents Carlos and Maria Perez. Carlos, a minister in the Collinsville area, joined others in supporting the launch of the new business.
Friday marked the first official day of business for Coffee World. Perez, who teaches English to Spanish-speaking students in Gadsden, also works with a ministry at Rainbow Church of Christ in Gadsden. She said her coffee journey began as a way to raise funds for the ministry, first selling coffee at Collinsville Trade Day. Encouraged by regular customers—many from Cherokee County—Perez decided to open a permanent location in Centre.
Perez said she hopes the new shop will not only provide a gathering place for the local community but also support coffee farmers and their families in the countries where the beans are grown. Coffee World plans to feature products sourced from Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Colombia, and El Salvador. Proceeds will also help fund ministers in Central America.
The menu will include a wide selection of beverages such as espresso, cold brew, coffee, chai, non-coffee drinks, and a variety of pastries. Coffee World will be open Monday through Saturday from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on Sundays. The shop also plans to offer delivery service in the near future.
In addition to its café space, Coffee World provides a private room available for meetings, parties, and community gatherings.
Perez extended an invitation to everyone to stop by, enjoy a cup of coffee, and connect with others. The shop is located at 7075 Cherokee Plaza in Centre in the old Cherokee County Bank building.
