JASPER – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors went 7-0 Saturday to win the Smith Lake Classic volleyball tournament at Curry High School on Saturday.
In pool play, the Lady Warriors (9-0) defeated Sumiton Christian (25-11, 25-12), West Morgan (23-25, 25-14, 15-6), Winston County (27-25, 25-21), and Fayette County (25-20, 25-11).
Cherokee County claimed a 25-11, 25-17 victory over Addison in the tournament quarterfinals, then defeated Mortimer Jordan 25-17, 25-22 in the semifinals to earn a spot in the championship against Madison County.
The Lady Warriors claimed the tournament title with a 25-14, 25-12 victory.
Macy Lea accumulated 124 assists, seven kills, three aces, three blocks, and 14 digs for the day. Nevaeh Gaidurgis collected 65 kills, 25 digs, 10 aces, five blocks, and five assists. Ellisan Givens gained 60 digs, 16 aces, and 16 assists.
Ava Haygood delivered 40 kills, 18 digs, eight aces, four blocks, and three assists. Jolie Alexander came away with 17 kills, 12 aces, four blocks, nine digs, and a pair of assists. Mattie Green gained 24 kills, two digs, two blocks, and two assists. Raegan Garmany contributed 11 kills, two digs, four blocks, and an assist. Jesslyn Hincy finished with 34 digs, 11 aces, and an assist.
The Lady Warriors host Hokes Bluff and Douglas on Monday at 5 and 7 p.m.
