Cherokee County, AL – August 14, 2025 – Cherokee County 911 and the Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency have announced the successful completion of the county’s first-ever Citizens Public Safety Academy, concluding last night with a graduation ceremony honoring participants.

Over the past several weeks, academy participants received hands-on training, attended interactive demonstrations, and gained behind-the-scenes insight into the operations of the county’s 911 dispatch center, emergency management services, fire and rescue, emergency medical services, and law enforcement partners.

The program was designed to strengthen community relationships, improve public understanding of emergency services, and equip citizens with practical knowledge to help keep families and neighbors safe.

“Our graduates now have a deeper appreciation for the work that goes into protecting Cherokee County,” said Deputy Director Brent Snead. “This program has built bridges between public safety professionals and the community we serve.”

Graduates were presented with certificates recognizing their commitment to public safety education and community engagement, marking a milestone in the county’s efforts to foster stronger connections between citizens and emergency services.
