Gadsden Fire Department Responds to Biohazard Incident at Airport Road Intersection
GADSDEN – The Gadsden Fire Department responded late Monday night to a biohazardous incident involving a protein spill at the intersection of Airport Road and Steele Station Road.
Units from Engine 7, Battalion 2, the Gadsden/Etowah County Emergency Management Agency’s EMA1, and the Gadsden Police Department arrived on scene to secure the area and protect public safety.
Fire crews quickly contained the spill by applying multiple bags of oil dry, preventing the substance from spreading and reducing any risk to motorists or the surrounding environment. The intersection remained under control as cleanup operations concluded.
The incident occurred during the department’s B Shift on August 12, 2025.
