Gadsden Police Officer Recovering After Injury During Robbery Arrest

A Gadsden Police officer remains hospitalized in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) after suffering a broken during a robbery arrest over the weekend. The officer underwent surgery Sunday and experienced serious complications.

Authorities said two suspects connected to a series of recent burglaries in East Gadsden were taken into custody on Sunday. When confronted by officers, both suspects attempted to flee on foot. After a brief pursuit, they were apprehended.

During the arrest of one suspect, the officer sustained a broken arm along with other injuries that required immediate medical attention.

In a statement, the Gadsden Police Department expressed gratitude to the community, partnering law enforcement agencies, and Good Samaritan bystanders who assisted during the incident.

“Your actions reflect the very spirit of Pride, Integrity, and Excellence that we strive to serve with every day,” the department said.

As of the latest update, the officer remains in SICU and continues to recover. The officer’s family and the department have thanked the public for their ongoing prayers and support during his recovery.

UPDATE: As of Wednesday afternoon, the officer has been released to recover at home.
