SOUTHSIDE — The Southside Police Department proudly announced it is one of the first twelve agencies in Alabama to receive accreditation through the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police (AACOP), marking a major milestone after nearly two years of dedicated preparation.
This distinguished accreditation recognizes the department’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and community service. The certification highlights that Southside has met progressive standards in police management, administration, operations, and support services, ensuring top-quality policing for the community.
“This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of every member of the Southside Police Department. It confirms that our policies and practices are among the best, reinforcing our commitment to protect and serve with excellence.”- Southside PD
The certification was formally awarded at the recent Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police State Chiefs Conference, where Southside was recognized as one of only fourteen departments statewide to meet these rigorous standards.
The Fort Payne Police Department has also earned this accreditation, joining Southside in demonstrating their dedication to professional policing and community safety.
Both departments thanked local citizens, community partners, Mayor and Council members for their ongoing support. Southside Police Chief emphasized, “We are proud of our team’s tireless efforts and grateful to serve a community that values excellence in law enforcement.”
With this accreditation, Southside and Fort Payne continue to strengthen public trust and set a high benchmark for policing in the region.
