Marshall County Coroner Cody Nugent confirmed the victim’s identity Wednesday following the discovery of Anderson’s body inside a camper on Brothers Road Tuesday morning. Anderson had suffered a gunshot wound, prompting officials to open a homicide investigation.
“The case is still under investigation, and as part of our policy, it is being treated as a homicide until deemed otherwise,” Nugent said in a news release.
Officials say one person of interest is currently in custody on unrelated charges. While no formal charges have been filed in connection to Anderson’s death, authorities confirmed the individual is being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Marshall County Coroner’s Office is working in coordination with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
Investigators are urging anyone with information to contact the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.
