Arrest Made in Gadsden Murder
GADSDEN — A 26-year-old man was killed in a shooting early Sunday morning in downtown Gadsden, and police say a suspect is now in custody.
According to the Gadsden Police Department, officers were dispatched around 4:48 a.m. on June 22 to a report of a shooting in a parking lot near South 5th Street and Chestnut Street. When they arrived, they found a man unresponsive inside a vehicle.
The victim, identified as Dakota Hallmark, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say an investigation was launched immediately. By 4:00 p.m. the same day, authorities had arrested Chrisshod Wallace in connection with the fatal shooting. Wallace has been charged with murder.
The investigation remains active, and no further details have been released at this time. Police urge anyone with information related to the case to contact Detective Sergeant Grimes at (256) 549-4625.
